Sunshine by Robin McKinley (Book Review)

This book was a page turner for me. While not as “clean” as Shiver by Maggie Steifvater, this book was a new look at vampires and vampire lore. It was extremely interesting. Be warned there are quite a few times throughout the book that have adult themed conversations and/or topics so if you are sensitive to those sort of things, don’t read this book.

The story is about a young woman called Sunshine who is abducted by vampires from her family’s cabin by the lake. She finds herself a prisoner in an abandoned house, chained to a wall in a ballroom with a vampire chained up with her. Without giving anything away, it is the story of how these two individuals forge an unlikely friendship over their shared desire to simply stay alive. I know, I know… everyone is probably thinking “OhmygoshOhmygoshOhmygosh!!! It’s going to be another vampire love story like Bella and Edward!!!” *excitedly jumping up and down* or “Oh geez, not another one.” *groaning* But I assure you, this story is nothing like Twilight. It is intensely better than the Twilight saga in my opinion. For one, the writing style is amazingly brilliant. The storyline is far more realistic as well.
